3 Days Fishing and Walking Tour

This tour highlights one of Tasmania's little known treasures. Easily passed through on the road to the tourist icons like Strahan, this is one the locals like to keep to themselves

The aim is to provide ample time to explore the lakes in comfortable Hobie Kayaks. The secret weapon is the Mirage pedal drives that let you use your legs to propel the kayak, leaving your hand free to steer, fish, take photos or simply just take it all in

Your guide are both knowledgeable and passionate about the west coast. We all enjoy fishing but are by no means expert fishermen. If you want to improve your skills we may be able to have a certified expert, guide the tour at additional cost

Day 1 (B,L,D)  Launceston to Tullah via Cradle mountain

Pick up about 7:00am, stop for breakfast at a cafe 30 minutes from Launceston. If you have not visited Cradle Mountain it is a side trip well worth the time. A classic loop of Dove Lake is considered one of the best short walks in Tasmania. There is a fantastic Tasmanian Devil breeding program with an attached visitors centre that is highly recommended 

This Cradle activities can be done on day one or day three, according to you preferences, and of course the weather

A 40 minute drive from Cradle Mountain will bring us to Tullah and our accomodation for the next 2 nights. You may prefer a quick paddle to get used to the kayaks and equipment or if you want to challenge yourself there are some excellent 2 to 4 hour walks with superb views of the mountains and lake the surround the town

Enjoy a meal in our accommodation and prepare for an big day of adventure the next day

Day 2 (B,L,D) Tullah lakes

An early breakfast will prepare us for the day. As Tullah is an old town that grew out of the hydro electric projects that take advantage of its natural terrain, it is surrounded by lakes. So with a choice of 3 lakes within 15 minutes drive we can find access to the best conditions on offer. The days duration will depend on weather, and the interests of the group. We will take a tasty lunch with us to enjoy along the way

Returning to Tullah we will savour an evening meal at the local tavern famous for its hearty meals in cosy atmosphere 

Day 3 (B,L,) Tullah to Launceston (or other cities by request)

Another morning fishing is on the cards, or if you have had your fill of fishing there are more opportunities to hike. Or simply relax and enjoy the tasting trails for fine food, wine and spirits on the way back to Launceston
